Lyric mezzo soprano Bailey Galindo employs a diverse skill-set to entertain audiences in a variety of musical genres. In repertoire that spans from Mozart to Sondheim, she has performed with the award winning Texas State Opera Theatre, Texas State Department of Theatre and Dance, and Spotlight on Opera as Cathy in The Last Five Years, Amy in Company, Sandman (cover) in Hansel and Gretel, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Frau Reich in Merry Wives of Windsor, and Flora Mezaros in Flora the Red Menace.

 

Ms. Galindo also has a substantial amount of ensemble work under her belt. Seen in the chorus for productions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hindesmith’s Sancta Susanna, the world premier of Lady Bird: The First Lady of the Land, and as a dancer in productions of Hansel and Gretel and Carmen, she showcases her marketability. In addition, she has been featured in ensemble pieces as the Alto I in the world premier recording of Sebastián de Vivanco’s Magnificat a sexti toni, and a soloist in Texas State Chorale’s collegiate premier of Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard.

 

She has collaborated with many esteemed coaches, conductors and directors. At Texas State University, Ms. Galindo worked with Kristin Roach, Craig Hella Johnson, Joey Martin, Carolyn Watson, Stephanie Wells and Kaitlin Hopkins. Now pursuing a Master of Music degree at Peabody Institute, she is collaborating with Eileen Cornett, Garnett Bruce, Joseph Young, Marin Alsop and Sam Mungo. During her time with Spotlight on Opera, she worked with contralto and director, Cindy Sadler.

 

Ms. Galindo’s upcoming performances include The Hiding Tree (Big Sister) with Peabody Opera Outreach, the staged premier of Kirke Mechem’s Pride and Prejudice (chorus) with Peabody Opera Theatre, and Puccini’s La Rondine with Peabody Opera Theatre.
